1. Reno Show
a. The Reno show has not been cancelled – the show has moved to June in conjunction with the regional awards show, this year only.
b. There are no flyers for the show here, but a flyer can be downloaded from the regional website.
c. Kathy Gumm and Carol Freels are in charge
2. Polar Express is alive and well and breeding in Idaho.
Cooperation is important!
We can be competitive in the rings, but cooperate elsewhere. We don’t want to see any clubs go under. We need new people and local shows.
International Post Mortem
This year it will be Saturday and Sunday – no Friday. It will be in Atlanta, GA. The show manager must stay on top of budget. For instance, ceiling banners cost $35,000, advertising was $45,000, gate brought in $23,000. Budget is set to not include gate. Deby Kusy/Mark Hannon are co-chairs. This year’s show is two days, 750 limit. There is talk about scoring – possibly percentage of top shows. This has not been decided yet and is still in the investigational phase. If it doesn’t work this year, CFA may not have it anymore. Local clubs will be more involved. We need to plan ahead, and if for whatever reason the International Show doesn’t work, we would consider regional galas like the prior 2-5 show.
6 x 6 format
All requests to National Scheduling Committee. What works for East coast doesn’t work on the West Coast. There was discussion about how shows in Region 2 affect each area of the region and protecting show dates. The SF Bay Area is impacted more by Region 5 (southern CA) than by upper Region 2 shows.
Regional scheduling working to keep from stepping on toes – two suggestions: change traditional dates for one club if conflict, or both clubs with the same date work together for one show.
